Savannah Country Day School
www.horizonssavannah.com
(SAVANNAH, GA) On June 22, 135 students will descend upon the campus of Savannah Country Day School to participate in Horizons, a six-week summer enrichment program for public school students. The program, which will welcome rising Kindergarteners through seventh graders from nine local public schools, is an academic, cultural and recreational enrichment program that enables students from diverse, low-income populations to realize their full potential. “The Horizons Student Enrichment Program not only impacts the student, but the entire family, which in turn impacts the community,” said Gail MacPherson, executive director of Horizons Savannah. “By encouraging and making the learning process a fun experience for the child, we see that the child is more eager to learn, thus creating a lower dropout rate for students in our community and county.”
Academics covered during the summer program include reading, writing and mathematics, while recreational activities include swimming, basketball and tennis, among others. Social skills are honed throughout the program, with specific “life lessons” highlighted in the classroom. In addition, students take frequent field trips designed to give them exposure to new experiences.
Horizons strives to develop the whole child through experiences that build problem-solving skills, foster awareness of community responsibility, and instill respect for oneself and others. A crucial aspect of the program is the inclusion of students’ families in the six-week session.
“By including the students’ families in Horizons activities, we have seen the success rate rise with each child that comes through our program,” said MacPherson. “By the end of the summer, their social skills have reached a whole new dimension.”
Horizons Savannah is affiliated with Horizons National, which serves more than 1,500 students in 16 cities around the country, and is the second largest program in the nation. The program is funded by Savannah-area individuals, corporations and foundations. The summer session on the campus of Savannah Country Day School begins June 22 and commences on July 31. For more information, please contact Executive Director Gail MacPherson at 912-344-0791 or visit www.horizonssavannah.com.

Savannah’s Cash-n-Carry
(SAVANNAH, GA) Kenny Grainger, President of Savannah’s Cash-n-Carry used auto parts and self-serve salvage yard, proudly announces the grand opening of a new 4,200 square foot customer service building with a ribbon cutting Wednesday, May 27, at noon.
The event will also serve as a customer appreciation day where customers can enjoy free admission to the salvage yard, free food and have a chance to win a car through a raffle. Free hamburgers and hot dogs will be available for customers from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Grainger and his staff wanted to create a unique shopping experience at their automotive salvage business. What the staff came up with is something different from the commonly known junkyard: A safe, clean and environmentally friendly self-service yard full of vehicles ranging from the 1970s to 2007.
The goal for Grainger and his 14 staff members is to handle the needs of their customers in a fast, professional, and friendly manner. The new building will aid the staff in doing so as it has designated areas for retail sales and a kid-friendly waiting room.
Inside the new building, customers can walk into a 1,400 square foot retail sales office – a space Grainger said is large enough to handle the hundreds of people who walk through the door every day. The building will also house a kid-friendly, comfortable waiting area with soda and vending machines.
Cash-n-Carry is a self-service salvage yard that has been serving Savannah and the Low Country since 1985. The family-owned business sells premium auto parts at low prices. The environmentally friendly and clean business recycles every part of every vehicle they receive by allowing customers20to bring their toolbox and pull parts from over 1,500 cars, trucks, and SUV’s on the lot. Once a vehicle is dismantled the remnants are then crushed and recycled.
Cash-n-Carry, located at 500 Staley Avenue in Savannah, is open 7 days a week for their customer’s convenience.

(SAVANNAH, GA) HAPPY BIRTHDAY DR. DAVID DAVIES!
The Sullivan Group leads the way in new technology
(Savannah, GA) The Sullivan Group integrates a new virtual database server – creating continual information retrieval for the business and their clients, reducing the environmental footprint through true virtualization. This new system is just the latest way that The Sullivan Group is simplifying business for itself and its clients For Immediate Release:
www.simplysullivans.com.
(Savannah, GA) The Sullivan Group has implemented a new, state-of-the-art server virtualization technology that hosts their new Human Resource Outsourcing software, putting the company at the cutting edge of technology. The new infrastructure not only uses a new Microsoft Dynamic-based software solution – which provides critical business functions including payroll, financial management and compliance reporting – but also includes a delivery infrastructure solution that provides protection for critical virtual workloads all while allowing the company and its clients become more environmentally friendly.
“We chose this new technology to become one of the premier leaders in data disaster recovery,” explains Jones. “If something happens and the primary server becomes inactive – we can still run our business, we can still access our software and so can our clients. This system delivers reliable protection by providing redundant virtual machines and synchronized mirroring of the entire system including network, applications and data.
By becoming more electronic database oriented, there’s less paperwork which protects the integrity of stored data and saves trees in the process.” With all-day, every-day access of information retrieval, The Sullivan Group and its clients can start to eliminate paperwork, expanding upon existing electronic file for human resources needs (or e-hr files), giving less room for data destruction and human error.
“Helping our clients switch to a virtual-based data system helps maintain the integrity of stored human resources data and with easy, continuous access to information like payroll, tax filings and medical benefits, anyone can see this is the next step in human resources management,” explains Erika Simpson, network administrator for The Sullivan Group. Both Rob and Erika participated in live webinars and media interviews explaining how the new technology works; highlighting a number of the new features.
This new infrastructure helps The Sullivan Group take its clients to the next step in electronic storage. “We felt our clients needed a more secure way to handle documents, particularly when it comes to human resources information that needs to be available to access at any given moment. When the system isn’t reliable and is only supported by a system of tapes that records the information, that information is in danger of being destroyed or worse, losing integrity,” says Jones. “And with the new consciousness of environmentalism, this software not only cuts down the amount of paperwork, it allows companies to cut down on the need for large servers, which can eat up the cost of heating and cooling in your office.
The fewer number of servers, the less amount of energy you need to perform. This is virtualization at it’s best.” “We know this is a huge step in human resources management,” says Simpson, “The Sullivan Group surfs the wave of the future by running their newly acquired Microsoft Dynamics software on state of the art virtualization technology. Because our business is located on the coast, we are always planning for the worst. This new system provides the company with the utmost protection of our clients’ critical data.” Based in Savannah, Georgia, The Sullivan Group is a Human Resources Outsourcing (HRO) company focused on supporting small and medium-sized businesses. Serving hundreds of small businesses in Georgia and South Carolina, The Sullivan Group provides each customer with the critical support and expert resources needed for a wide range of HR challenges including employee benefits, payroll, compliance tactics, staffing and workers compensation insurance.
